Meditation is a spiritual practice that has many different approaches, connected to different spiritual paths. It addresses breath and the state of mind. Mediation helps us develop a deeper connection with ourselves and with the Divine. It is a practice of awareness and is usually done in silence (except for guided meditation and meditation using chanting). Psychological body-mind approaches often use meditation as a way to help people calm their busy minds and enter a deeper state of relaxation and focus.
At Pine Manor, meditation is often used by different facilitators. In the Silent Retreats, led by Gail Warner, each day starts with meditation and ends with meditation. People often incorporate other types of mediation, such as walking mediation, into their day. Yoga is a type of meditation, too, which supports various poses that allow the body to go into a deep state of relaxation.
