The Round House ~ Beautiful Straw Bale Sanctuary.

 

The Round House is a beautiful straw bale building. It was built the week after 9.11.2001 and all of the participants put their heart and soul into the building project. Bob Bolles of strawbalehouse.com taught the course. Preston Bell, Michael Leach and others were active assistants. The Round House has a reciprical roof and a radient heat floor. Micahel Leach also created a gorgeous painting of the sun and planets on the floor. These slides show the actual building ot the Round House added in after photos of the finished building.

 

On the Round House floor is Michael Leach's  The Sun.  The following poems were written about this sacred space by writers during a poetry retreat.

 A hole in the roof-
 bet you think it is a mistake.
 not at Pine Manor
 where all that is imagined
 is put into magic.
